Second Thoughts

For the first time of my life, I have never seen such disaster as the Sichuan earthquae.Although i am blessed enough for not suffering the nightmare,i saw a lot of pictures that revals that the disaster is so real and cruel. I couldn't help recalling the recent disasters like 2005 New Orlean hurricane Katrina,Indian ocean tsunami, Myanmar storm that claimed millios of lives. SARS, bird flu and EV71 huants everybody. It seems that we humans are not safe anymore. What's going on in this world? Why must we decent people suffer this?

For years, we are dealing with relationships between human and nature and we are wonderig whether we are a part of nature or the master of nature.Since ancient years, our ancestors have learnt to use fire,the symbol of civilization. We have leant to create tools working for us. It occurs to me that the most significant human make use of is fossil fuels. In other words, our society is built on the oil. We human beings take full advantage of oil to exploit happiness. Surroundings becomes the backup of our life. We created machines and built highways. Everthing becomes so easy as long as we have enough oil. To a certain extent, economy and politics goes as oil supply as its barameter. If you look at the wars between countries, like Iraq war waged by US, the ultimate motive is oil. US needs oil supply stable to fully maintain the successful running of the system. My compassinate to people live in middle east. They are meant to wars because their country has plenty of oil. For many years, we human beings are accustomed to using the resource greedyly. We take it for granted that nature is so gentle that she will never punish us.But past disasters and the casualties constantly remind us punishment from mighty nature is on the way. Global warming, climate change etc. is the case. No need to cite abnormal climate overseas, kindly concentrate on the domestic storm not long ago.Warm south area has snow storm where snow are rare for the past decades. Cars, computers and ice box we use for daily life exhausts huge carbon dioxide, needless to say numrous factories that exhaust carbon dioxide in large volume.

Back to Sichuan earthquake, I am not in a position to find out what leads to this disater and how to avoid that. I just think that we should learn from this tragedy. Much more! Mother nature has its system to get through the worse and worse environment. But right now, she is over-burdened. if we humans cannot work together, we will be abandoned eventually. Protect the environment from now on. We couldn't imagine generations in the future yelling in our derams what we have done to Mother nature.
